The Senior Accountant for our Wireless and Logistics pillar provides the business with accurate, adequately supported financial information in accordance with U.S. GAAP. With an eye for details yet able to see the bigger picture, the Senior Accountant performs various month-end procedures in a fast-paced environment requiring sound judgment and solid analytical skills. The Senior Accountant acts as the key subject matter expert (“SME”) for assigned areas of accounting and proactively maintains strong rapport with stakeholders of all levels in order to investigate variances, expedite resolution of issues, and identify and resolve process inefficiencies.

As a Senior Accountant you will…

  • Develop and maintain accuracy in the commission models within systems.
  • Responsible for on-going improvement in processes to update carriers’ models in BBYC systems, decreasing and detecting anomalies in commission rates, leading weekly triage meeting with AR, IT, Retail Operations and Merchant Teams to improve overall match rates between activations and recorded AR, minimizing missed revenue scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain financial controls to ensure that retail processes and system solutions record accurate activation-based compensation due from carrier partners.
  • Ensure that all operational reporting ties back to POS and carrier information, ensure payment variances are researched to ensure they are not a compensation calculation or retail processing issue
  • Identify activations that do not appear in other BBYC systems of record as well as a process for resolving identified delta between systems.
  • Determine ongoing AR reserve rates and reserve balance required for all Subscription AR partners by determining the ongoing losses associated with original AR balances.
  • Analyze all Subscription AR write-offs to identify trends and anomalies. Taking those insights and provide reporting to cross functional teams (IT, Retail, Merchant) recommending technical, operational and contractual opportunities to reduce losses.
  • Be Responsible for understanding all contract and program terms and conditions between customers, carriers and BBYC.
  • Pro-actively identify and perform root cause analyses regarding activation-based compensation issues. Take lead to identify and assemble key stakeholders and SMEs to expedite resolution and follow through the process to ensure the issues are resolved.
  • Ensure that month end financial information is accurate and adequately supported by monitoring of activity in assigned accounts including freight costs; liaising with subject matter experts on the business side; the preparation of journal entries, variance analysis of income statement and balance sheet accounts and the completion of balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and Enterprise Finance Policy to meet internal compliance requirements

The experience we need…

  • 3 – 5 years of accounting experience at senior level
  • Progressive accounting experience with a mid to large size public/private corporation
  • CPA designation
  • Strong systems aptitude, Advanced Excel
  • Proven ability to efficiently organize and analyze large volumes of data

Bonus points…

  • Experience and/or knowledge of SQL and BI tools
  • Previous experience in Wireless operations.
