What you’ll do to be successful in this role…
Team Leadership
- Provide Logistics team leadership, including supervising and assessing staff performance, training and development
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal Operations staff including other departments and external carriers, brokers, and vendors
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with all freight vendors, ocean, small parcel, cross boarder
- Negotiate contracts with Umbra interest in mind, ensuring top customer satisfaction and cost saving initiatives
Import/Export Ocean Transportation
- Manage and coordinate daily activities relating to import of ocean shipments from Asia to North America
- Schedule and coordinate container pickups and returns within required time, providing a manageable flow of containers to the warehouse and avoiding penalties
- Work with buyers to ensure all containers are meeting required delivery dates
- Ensure each file is completely closed with confirmation of inventory receipt both physically and in SAP system
- Manage and coordinate exports from USA & Canada, including quotes, booking and all export documentation as required
- Compile import/export documentation for border presentation
- Manage and monitor freight spend, working with finance team so ensure budget adherence
Cross-border Shipments/Customs
- Work and collaborate with warehouses and internal drivers and carriers to coordinate re- distribution of product including creation of customs documentation
- Manage and interact with our 3rd party providers including carriers and custom brokers
- Oversee the customs compliance program and related trade regulations for imports and exports. Act as the primary contact to effectively resolve shipment issues compliantly in a timely manner.
- Understand and maintain classification data base
- Work closely with product development team to accurately classifying goods according to Canada/US Customs Tariffs

Requirements
What you’ll bring…
- College diploma or equivalent in a business discipline or related field
- 3-4 years’ progressive experience in Supply Chain / Inbound-Outbound Logistics in an entrepreneurial environment
- Experience in cost and P&L management
- Strong experience in tariff classification
- Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills; previous supervisory exposure required
- Hands-on experience with import-export processes, customs broker interaction, and liaising with warehouse operations staff required. Advanced Excel skills and SAP experience would be an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel to USA; valid passport required
- Positive can-do attitude with a strong work ethic and ability to learn and adapt to changing priorities
