Job description: The Technical Services Section requires seasonal temporary construction material Ticket Takers. Reporting to theSupervisor, Surveys and Inspections, the successful candidates are responsible to collect weight bills for asphalt,granulars, concrete, and other construction materials delivered to municipal worksites. Other duties includedelivering construction notices to residents and providing general assistance to City inspectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collects weight tickets from truck drivers for construction materials delivered to City worksites.
  • Checks delivery ticket information to verify type of material and ensures material is placed on the Cityworksite.
  • Completes daily material summary sheets and tabulates quantities using adding machine or calculator.
  • Delivers construction notices to homeowners.
  • Assists City inspectors with job related tasks.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience or knowledge of the road construction industry an asset.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer service.
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and make sound decisions;
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office: Word, Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Act, Technical Standards and Safety Authority an asset;
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing. Must be able to provide your own vehicle in which mileage would be paid. A driver’s abstract will be required to verify adriving record in good standing.
  • C.S.A approved green patch safety boots are required.
  • May be required to lift boxes of notices of up to 10lbs.

Hourly Rate/Salary: 20.63
Hours of Work: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week)
