Job title: Manager, Global Communications & Marketing

Job description: The new Office of Government and Global Relations (GGR) at Dalhousie University works to foster the positive impact of the university with government, private sector, and community stakeholders as well as support the development of a vision and road map for global engagement and international activity at Dalhousie.

The Communications, Marketing and Creative Services (CMC) team is responsible for stewarding and enhancing the reputation and awareness of Dalhousie University through brand leadership, communications, marketing, public relations, community and stakeholder relations, creative services, media relations, issues management and crisis communications.

Reporting to the VP, Global & Government Relations (GGR) and Associate Director, Brand and Recruitment Marketing (CMC), the Manager, Global Communications & Marketing supports the university’s global growth and business priorities, with a focus on Dalhousie’s reputation, stakeholder engagement, and enrollment goals in key international markets.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic counsel in matters of strategic communications, marketing, digital advertising and public relations.
  • Leads and implements campaigns, publications and communications to promote a positive image and reputation for Dalhousie internationally.
  • Manages the media buying efforts for the university’s international marketing campaign, through the management of external vendor contracts.
  • Leads market research efforts and uses resources on a frequent basis to identify enrollment trends and further inform recruitment marketing and online strategies.
  • Implements measurement and evaluation processes to determine success of marketing advertising and media buying strategies.
  • Develops campaigns to support the university’s internationalization goals from ideation to execution for marketing initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree preferably in public relations, marketing, journalism or other related areas, plus a minimum of five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing strategic and measurable cross-cultural communications and marketing plans, and managing large projects including digital marketing campaigns. Experience with media buying and marketing in international markets and budget management are essential. Marketing and communications experience in markets such as China, South East Asia, India, Africa or Latin America, including linguistic and cultural competency, will be considered a very strong asset.
