Mission
Pittman Asphalt, part of the Terus Construction Ltd. group, is seeking a Paving Superintendent for its Prince George operations. Terus Construction Ltd. dba YCS Holdings Ltd. is a leader in the construction industry in British Columbia.

Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for enforcement of all required safety and work regulation policies and procedures. Responsible for the efficient use of labor, machines and materials by their paving crews and will report on personnel, costs and safety. The incumbent with also be responsible for planning and scheduling of paving work and tracking progress on a job; must be familiar with union contracts and procedures as well as be responsible for safety, efficiency, delivery to project specifications, quality control and employee development.

Main Responsibilites

  • Responsible for implementation and operation of paving projects, including initial mobilization and set up of construction sites, scheduling and progress estimates.
  • Obtaining and allocating equipment, materials and human resources.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety program, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and direct sub-contractors.
  • Provide coaching and training to foremen and other employees as required.
  • Delegating responsibility and authority for planning and overseeing work to foremen.
  • May participate in project estimating and planning.
  • Responsible for compliance with government regulations, environmental issues, dealing with inspectors, ensuring approvals, licensing and permits.

Profile
Employment Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.
  • Extensive experience in the construction, road building and Paving industry.
  • Strong Communication and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent time management, project management skills.
  • High level of independent judgment and reasoning.
  • Ability to deal with people diplomatically and professionally.
  • Ability to exercise cost control measures.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
  • Possess a valid class 5 driver license and current drivers abstract.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • May be required to work long hours and 7 days a week, in town and out of town.
  • May work up to 15% in an office set-up.
