An exciting opportunity exists for a Supervisor, Retail Food Services, to lead a team of foodservice professionals in a health care setting within AHS. Retail Food Services (RFS) is a provincial service that is committed to providing nutritious, healthy, high-quality food, and outstanding experiences to patients, residents, staff, visitors, and the community. This Temporary position is located at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is one of Canada’s leading academic health sciences centers with a reputation for research, innovation, education, and patient-centered care. The Retail Food Services Supervisor performs a leadership role in Retail Food Services and reports directly to the Manager, Retail Food Services. We are looking for a highly motivated food service professional to be part of the Retail food services program, who can: Demonstrate exceptional team management, delegation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, coaching skills and is able to motivate and lead others. Demonstrate self-awareness by taking responsibility, showing an eagerness to learn, managing emotions, and taking charge of their own development, as well as the development of their team. Demonstrate excellent oral communication skills, along with excellent business writing skills for preparing briefing notes, business plans, and memos.

Description:

The Retail Food Service Supervisor is accountable for setting and executing strategic and operational priorities for the Retail Food Service outlets and catering services. This includes developing and implementing unit-based plans, ensuring the effective deployment of resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role also has the overall accountability to liaise with varied stakeholders to create outstanding experiences for our clients and to ensure the workplace safety of our employees. This position implements systems, policies, and procedures developed by AHS and its Branded Partners. This position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Nutrition & Food Services (NFS) within AHS. Experience in design, implementation, and monitoring of effective internal controls to ensure stewardship of financial and physical resources is required. The Supervisor is responsible for identifying and addressing gaps in operational practice, as well as addressing any issues through risk management. This position also plays an integral role in the process of hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation of frontline workers and admin support.

Required Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Food and Nutrition Management, F & B Management, or a Red Seal in Culinary Arts. Minimum 3 years’ experience in high volume, multi-unit Branded Food and Beverage operations. Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrates exceptional team management, delegation, issue resolution, critical thinking, coaching skills and can motivate and lead others. Demonstrate excellent oral communication skills, along with excellent business writing skills for preparing briefing notes, business plans, and memos. Additional Required Qualifications:

Experienced in managing day-to-day activities of multiple retail units and/or catering services. Have previous business and operational experience in analyzing and managing financial results to maximize profits, achieve goals and increase customer experience. Experience in partnering with stakeholders to implement initiatives and process improvement efficiencies on individual units, and the overall site level. Demonstrates a clear pattern of professional, personal, and team development. An effective communicator that provides clear instructions, open to feedback, and displays active listening. Ability to prioritize and implement new approaches and improve processes using change management techniques. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrates organization and multi-project time/issue management. Experience in working with unionized employees. Experience with various software scheduling and payroll applications including, but not limited to: ESP, e-People, Peoplesoft and Oracle.
