Within Canada, our Rail & Transit team has been selected to design and deliver most of the recent Greenfield and Brownfield LRT, ALRT and Light Metro jobs awarded in the last 10 years including the Canada Line, Calgary West LRT, Edmonton North LRT, the Evergreen Line and the Confederation Line. We are actively working on delivering projects such as Trillium Line (Ottawa), Le Réseau express métropolitain (Montreal) and Eglinton-Crosstown (Toronto) and the Federal Way Link Extension in Seattle as well as many other direct to client assignments improving railway systems across North America.
Our Rail & Transit Engineering team deliver systems solutions that include alignment and track, traction power and distribution, signalling and train control, and communications. One of the key components of our systems delivery is systems engineering and safety assurance encompassing the engineering work required to manage the complex engineering of systems, sub-systems and components of a rail transit project in accordance with international standards.
In light of our current and future workloads, our Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance sub practices are recruiting Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance graduates. This entry level role will facilitate a learning journey working toward achieving the required competencies of a professional engineer.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, we will provide you with the training and guidance to support and deliver activities including the following:
- Provide high quality consultancy services to the rail industry in the fields of system engineering and safety assurance.
- Manage requirements using industry standard software such as IBM DOORS.
- Assess safety and create risk assessments, hazard analysis and hazard logs.
- Deliver assurance, certification and safety activities, supporting rail businesses, governments and organizations.
- Conduct and review of RAMS analyses such as FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams.
- Contribute to developing strategies to grow the systems engineering and safety assurance service offering.
- Support and delivery of systems engineering processes and activities such as verification & validation and configuration management.
- Interact with design technical leads and learn how the entire railway works as a complete system.
We are looking for graduates with an enthusiasm for complex multidisciplinary rail projects, who enjoy problem solving and finding solutions that meet the requirements of multiple stakeholders.
What will you contribute?
- Essential – University degree in engineering or science.
- Essential – Eligibility for registration as an EIT with the local engineering jurisdiction: EGBC, APEGA, PEO, OIQ, etc.
- Essential – Computer competency and familiarity.
- Essential – Excellent communication skills in English and/or French (spoken and written).
- Essential – Experience distilling and presenting technical information to audience.

Travel –
- Must be willing to travel to project sites.
