Job description: National Logistics Planner/ Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring all freight movement, cross-dock and sortation activity pertaining to the E2E Network. All freight movement within the E2E Network whether moved by company assets or via 3rd party assets is to be monitored and measured to ensure that all Service Level Agreements (SLA’S) are met or exceeded. The National Logistics Planner will work directly with First Mile, Middle Mile and Final Mile Carriers and Terminal Operations. This role will coordinate with other stakeholders to ensure a smooth supply chain such as Process Engineer, Dispatch, Customer Service, Transportation, Operations, Warehousing, Terminal and IT teams. The National Logistics Planner will act as a liaison among First Mile, Middle Mile and Final Mile operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Follow established processes and standard operating procedures for all aspects of the E2E network
  • Monitor SLA’s and performance of all carrier partners and provide daily input to the ECC Process Engineer for scorecard
  • Work with IT resources to coordinate EDI/API/Integration requirements with partner carriers
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Quality Control and Safety inspections
  • Provide required data for daily reporting, KPI and Metrics
  • Frequently run Track and Trace reports to provide visibility of all freight movement from First Mile to the Final Mile
  • Implement, monitor and control routing guides for partner carriers to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Assist in coordinating all the national shipments and documentation.
  • Liaise with preferred carrier partners and agencies and prepare, communicate, coordinate daily shipment and sort schedules
  • Arrange full trailer load (FTL) requirements, trailer arrival and pickup for inter-facility trips, and arrange for spot service trailers if required
  • Arrange less than trailer load (LTL) requirements, trailer arrival and pickup for inter-facility trips, and arrange for spot service trailers if required
  • Coordinate with Customer Service for exceptions management, including delays and redeliveries, and maintain mitigation/recovery plans.
  • Monitor dispatching and proper route balancing to achieve necessary Level of Service (LOS) and financial objectives.
  • Lead the pickup and dock schedules, overseeing inbound, sort and outbound processes to ensure carriers and IOOs complete all requirements and arrive/depart the terminal on time to achieve service objectives.
  • Utilize Corrective Action Plan Processes and Methodologies to continuously improve performance.
  • Own a smooth flow and coordination among 3 touchpoints, which are as follows:

Network Coordination – 1st Mile

  • Coordinate FC pickups with FC’s and 1st Mile Carriers
  • Ensure the first-mile sort is manned and running on time
  • Ensure that Critical Pull Time (CPT) is met
  • Handoff to Middle Mile carrier
  • Produce first mile SLA reporting

Network Coordination – Middle Mile

  • Coordinate Middle Mile PU’s from Terminals
  • Ensure CPT is met for PU
  • Track Middle Mile Carriers to Transfers to Destination Terminal
  • Perform scheduled Check Calls and compare ETA to scheduled arrival time
  • Enact local contingency plans if ETA is later than Required Delivery Date
  • Ensure Destination sort is manned and running on time to meet local transfer CPT
  • Handoff to Final Mile carrier
  • Produce Middle Mile SLA reporting

Network Coordination – Final Mile

  • Coordinate Local Transfers to Delivery Terminals
  • Ensure local transfer CPT are met
  • Ensure local transfer ETA are met
  • Enact contingency plans if ETA is later than Required Delivery Date
  • Ensure Loadout is complete
  • Monitor Final Mile Delivery and IOO performances
  • Produce End of Day (EOD) reporting

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Post-Secondary education preferably in Supply Chain and/or Logistics
  • 2-4 years of Supply Chain Management and Logistics experience in Transportation industry
  • FTL/ LTL/ TPL management experience is preferred
  • Fleet Manager, Manhattan, Oracle TMS or any other Transportation Management Software experience is must
  • Advanced Excel skills (Formulas, Pivot tables, Charts, etc.), and an ability to quickly draw insights from complex data
  • Demonstrated broad business acumen, a problem solver with the ability to efficiently manage complex operations
  • Strong knowledge of dispatch and sort activities.
  • Robust communication skills in order to pro-actively coordinate 3 units of End-to-End network
  • Ability to partner across organizations to assist in the implementation of SOPs and ensure control and maintenance of Service Level Agreements (SLA) compliance procedures
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, with a customer-driven focus and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to relate day-to-day issues to an overall compliance plan, perform root cause analysis of problems and lead mitigation plan.
  • Decent presentation skills and the ability to articulate clear, concise, and implementable solutions to all levels within the Organization.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and its methodology
  • Experience in Process Engineering, Value Stream Mapping
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge using leading ERP systems, Access, PowerBi. EDI/API, data integration
