In this role, you will Report to the V.P Operations, and:

Lead the staff of machining and assembly manufacturing engineers and CNC programmers, with responsibility for supporting complex engine manufacturing processes including automated and stand-alone machining, assembly, test & paint; support new product introduction to the line & continuous improvement oriented lean projects to improve overall productivity & plant efficiency.

In this role, you will be responsible to:

  • Develop, mentor and manage the Manufacturing Engineers and CNC Programmers
  • Determine and implement process improvements utilizing CAD-CAM systems & tooling with interface of operations and design engineering
  • Create and implement 1 to 5-year manufacturing capital planning and tooling budgets
  • Leverage OEM’s and contractors to install and optimize digitally connected equipment
  • Work closely with Operational Leads to create projects in support of new product introduction, process development, first piece qualification, process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor and/or assist with analysis and resolution of technical challenges encountered by teams
  • Incorporate industry best practices’ relating to process capability, tooling and manufacturing standards
  • Utilize capacity analysis and engine forecasts to plan, budget, justify and implement capital equipment or select outsourcing to meet volume ramp-up
  • Support TPM activities in collaboration with asset optimization team

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited university with a preference in Manufacturing Engineering or Design Engineering (P.Eng preferred)
  • Comfortable with complex industrial automation including machine tools, testing & assembly equipment
  • Ten+ years of experience in machining engine components (or similar)
  • Experience with the purchase, install and acceptance of capital equipment
  • Quoting and installations with independent contractors and machine tool OEM’s
  • Team player with proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others and drive change within the organization to meet team goals & objectives
  • Solid Lean, continuous improvement and problem-solving background with prior process improvement assignments
  • Familiarity & experience with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
  • Green Belt in Six Sigma with a solid understanding of Lean principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving & communication skills
  • Familiar with Quality and Reliability methodologies including, MTBF, pFMEA, Causal Effects Analysis, 8D etc
  • Strong customer orientation and sense of urgency with a growth mindset
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to identify, explain & solve critical issues within a team environment
  • Proven facilitation and team leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience & success in managing significant multidisciplinary projects
