Contracts & Business Affairs Administration Assistant (Permissions)

Job Overview

Job title: Contracts & Business Affairs Administration Assistant (Permissions)

Job description: Are you super-organised with great attention to detail?

Looking for a role in publishing within a commercial environment?

We’re looking for someone to join our Contracts & Business Affairs team as an Administration Assistant on a permanent basis, based at our London offices.

Our Contracts & Business Affairs team is an integral part of the business and is responsible for the preparation and negotiation of all publishing agreements across the business, as well as administering a variety of permission requests.

Reporting into the Team Co-ordinator, the Administration Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Group Contracts & Business Affairs Department with day to day administration, specifically making sure that Rights granted to and licensed by Penguin Random House are correctly catalogued and kept updated.

You’ll be amending and setting up contract records, preparing reports for divisional meetings, updating internal systems, monitoring turnaround statistics and handling renewals and expiries of Rights. You’ll regularly liaise with colleagues from inside and outside the team, so good communication skills are essential.

This is a great opportunity for someone highly organised looking to take their first steps in a publishing career with an interest in developing their careers across Contracts and Legal. You’ll need excellent word processing as well as a working knowledge of MS Office to do this role well. Experience with excel and a data management system would be beneficial, but not necessary.

We’ll teach you everything that you need to know to succeed in this role. You’ll need to be a good communicator, able to connect with people at all levels. You’ll learn how to balance a varied workload and know what to prioritise first.

If you’re interested in this role, please apply with your CV and cover letter by Thursday 18th November.

Salary: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.
