Job description: The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Construction Management (Position #30215), commencing July 1, 2021, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate: 1) must hold an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; 2) must be registered or eligible for registration as a member of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba; 3) will be expected to develop and teach Civil Engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; 4) will be expected to establish an externally funded and sustainable research program, and 5) must possess excellent communication and leadership skills.

Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, student mentorship and supervision, and professional service to the Department, the Faculty, the University and the community.

We are particularly interested in candidates who complement existing expertise in the Department and who have a demonstrated record of research and publications in the area of Construction Management. The candidate will be expected to develop a teaching and research program in one or more of the following areas: information and communication management in construction, knowledge management in construction, the management of information systems, construction technology adoption and innovation, machine learning applications in construction, intelligent decision support systems, finance and economics of large-scale projects, public-private partnerships, and building information modeling in construction.

The Department of Civil Engineering ( ) has twenty-two faculty members, thirteen support staff, and approximately two hundred and seventy undergraduate and one hundred and fifty graduate students. Approximately twenty-five percent of faculty members and thirty percent of students at both the graduate and undergraduate level are female.
