Role Description:

Reporting directly to the President, the Human Resources & Administration Manager, in collaboration with DEW’s corporate office, leads Human Resources programs and policies as they apply to employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance and staffing levels. He/she also manages the health and safety and administration programs at DEW’s Miramichi location.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offer strategic Human Resources support as it relates to the planning, development and implementation of HR programs, ensuring HR strategies align with corporate objectives;
  • Ensure company policies are well designed to achieve business goals, optimize employee commitment and individual development, and comply with all relevant regulations;
  • Manage the recruitment process including forecasting staffing needs based on organizational strategic direction;
  • Manage short and long-term disability and injury claims, coordinating with insurance providers and employees on return to work programs;
  • Maintain positive employee relations, counselling and guiding management on personnel decisions, providing sound advice and acting as a strategic partner;
  • Oversee and execute the Orientation program for new hires;
  • Act as the Designated Official for the Controlled Goods Program for the Miramichi facility; as well as an Alternate Company Security Officer for DEW;
  • Lead organizational development programs, including performance management and training initiatives;
  • Administer safety initiatives and programs, maintaining the very strong safety record of the company.

Your Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you are a senior human resources professional with proven leadership experience and understanding of the broad range of HR functions within a manufacturing environment. You have a strong sense of confidence, empathy and maturity that allows you to read a situation and the people involved ensuring there is a positive outcome, and that respect is maintained above all else. Along with the ability to always perform with tact and professionalism in a fast-paced, ever changing environment, you have a natural ability to bring others up around you with your positivity and team orientation.

Qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education with an emphasis in Human Resource Management;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist or Business Partner role, with demonstrated expertise in a broad range of HR functions;
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment;
  • Previous experience working with HRIS, payroll software as well as MS Office;
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and problem solving skills;
  • High levels of integrity, tact and maturity when dealing with sensitive or confidential information;
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable employment laws and practices;
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
