Your New Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director, Construction will lead a multi-disciplinary team including in-house construction in delivering new development projects across a variety of asset classes as well as perform renovations to existing properties. In collaboration with the senior leadership team, the Director, Construction will lead real estate development projects from conception to completion with a focus on project construction management. This will include the following: Managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing, third-party consultants and general contractors, and contractual deliverables; Ensure that department and project milestones are met and adhere to approved budgets; Collaborate with architects, contractors, designers, engineers, and other construction specialists; Prepare cost estimates and project status reports and work to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications; Ensure compliance with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations; Support the building of relationships within the development community; Manage staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs; Coordinate with other departments and resolve issues arising from operations as well as so much more.

What Sets You Apart

The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience leading construction and development projects across a wide variety of asset classes. Direct experience with industrial tilt-up is considered an asset. You will have the proven ability to confer with city inspectors to ensure that all regulations are met, including the successful application of development and building permits; You have a passion for real estate development and are known for being a proactive and motivated team player. A strong knowledge of building costs and expert skills in negotiation, planning, and problem solving are essential. You should be skilled at writing proposals, procuring materials and dealing with a clients and key stakeholders.
