Job Summary:
The Manager, Corporate Finance has accountability for the Company’s Financial Reporting, contributing to all aspects of the public company corporate finance role, with broad exposure to the challenges and rewards of global growth within the changing dynamics of the public equity markets.

This role provides leadership and direction to five direct reports and the finance staff at each of the divisions, and is a trusted resource providing sound financial and business advisory to the Director Corporate Finance and the Executive Team.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying continuous improvement opportunities to simplify and make improvements from a controls, process and/or systems perspective to drive positive change within and across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Accounting and compliance responsibilities:

  • Direct the monthly preparation of consolidated financial statements for circulation to management and other stakeholders;
  • Oversee the quarterly review and year-end audit process including development of external financial statement and note disclosures. Ensure efficient and successful year-end close and satisfactory audit results;
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual Management’s Discussion and Analysis of results, the Annual Information Form and Management Information Circular;
  • Plan, organize, direct and control through subordinates the financial reporting, accounting and general financial affairs of Corporate Finance;
  • Review monthly and quarterly analysis and reports that are used by the Corporate Finance department;
  • Research and provide direction on accounting issues at the Company’s divisions globally. Work with division Controllers on complex accounting projects such as accounting for acquisitions or divestitures, asset impairment analysis, financial instruments, revenue recognition and other complex accounting issues.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner;
  • Ensure covenant compliance with ATS’ credit agreement. Oversee preparation of all reporting to meet bank requirements;
  • Monitor changes to IFRS and OSC regulations. Assist in developing global roll-out of changes in IFRS to business units, including assisting with the training and education of controllers;

Project-based responsibilities:

  • Continuously seek ways to improve the quality and efficiency of reporting. Anticipate required changes to financial reporting resulting from new business initiatives or requirements;
  • Recommend and implement improvements in all financial processes. Work with the team and other functions to successfully implement recommendations;
  • Lead and contribute to special projects as required to drive positive change in Finance and the business.

Other responsibilities:

  • Work closely with key external providers – auditors, tax consultants, lawyers providing explanations and interpretations as required on behalf of ATS;
  • Lead and develop the Corporate Finance team to ensure high performance, strong teamwork and positive morale. Set challenging goals and high standards of performance;
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Job Qualifications

Education:

Chartered Professional Accountant with 5+ years experience in public company reporting.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience, in public accounting or in industry, with significant experience in public company external reporting and compliance.
  • Individual must have an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels within and outside of the organization, both orally and in writing.
  • Superior skills in Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems experience required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented environment is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical, financial and accounting skills as well as an ability to significantly contribute to the management of the company are key.
  • Skilled at simplifying and streamlining complex processes and transactions.
  • Individual must be hands-on, and able to meet deadlines.
