Position Summary
Interior Health is seeking a casual experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops, B.C.

1South at RIH is an acute psychiatric unit that provides acute psychiatric care to individuals across the full spectrum of care; early psychosis, general psychiatric disorders, addictions and geriatric. The unit has a multidisciplinary structured program consisting of individual psychotherapy, ECT, psychopharmacology, psycho-educational programs, group therapy, occupational therapy programs, recreational activities, family assessments and therapy, and behaviour therapy. The programs are tailored to meet teach patient’s individual needs. Length of stay varies from 1-3 weeks.

As this is a general unit we admit and work with every psychiatric presentation imaginable. 1South is a dynamic working and learning environment and we are very busy with over 750 admissions last year so every day there is something new to learn and experience. Staff education is integral to the success of this program and education initiatives are provided to increase the knowledge and skills of all staff.

Shifts of work are Days, Evenings and Nights; rotating from 07:30 to 19:30 and 19:30 to 07:30.

Qualifications
Graduation from an approved school of nursing and two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and addictions environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
