Job description: is looking for an Animal Care Assistant with exceptional communication skills. Responsibilities

  • This role is full time (40 hours per week) and will require afternoons and rotating Saturdays
  • Cleaning and Hospital Maintenance – a binder with detailed daily, weekly, and monthly charts is to be initialed as the tasks are completed.
  • Some of these include:
  • Ensure all areas of the hospital are clean and disinfected (according to the suggested sanitation schedule) including washrooms, hallways, examination rooms, office area kennels. This includes all surfaces, walls and floors
  • Ensure all doors and glassed areas are kept clean (free of fingerprints and nose prints!)
  • Ensure all access areas of the hospital are kept free of clutter
  • Ensure garbage is collected and separated accordingly, ensuring that garbage is placed in a designated location for pickup. This includes both regular waste and recyclables
  • Hospital laundry should be kept on a routine schedule to ensure that clean laundry is available at all time
  • Ensure that air return, exhaust, and dryer vents are cleaned regularly
  • Ensure floors are kept clean and disinfected
  • Animal Care and Handling:
  • Ensure that all animals are kept clean, dry and comfortable
  • Ensure all animals are fed, watered, and exercised with proper leashing
  • Observe animal appearance, activity and general physical condition reporting any changes or concerns to the Veterinary Technician or attending Veterinarian
  • Assist in restraining animals, where required.
  • Assist where needed: mostly assist staff with restraint of patients, deliver food/medication to vehicles with PPE (mask, face shield and COVID coat)
