Job title: People & Culture Coordinator (Entry-level)
Job description: As our new People & Culture Coordinator, you will be a key support person for all things recruitment, people, and culture. This entry-level HR position will be responsible for supporting various administrative HR functions including but not limited to the day-to-day management of our new HRIS, benefits administration, onboarding, and the planning/execution of our company wide events. You will undertake projects and requests as needed and act as the central point of reference for employees’ questions and needs. If you are fresh out of university, or if you are looking to pivot into HR as a new career, this hands-on position will suit you perfectly!
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the recruitment process for permanent roles by sourcing, shortlisting, screening and conducting reference checks for successful candidates
- Own the co-op recruitment process and coordinate on-campus recruitment programs and job fairs by championing The Very Good Food Company’s brand and vision
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders at various universities and colleges to identify opportunities for future talent
- Prepare various letters including employment verification letters and employment offers
- Coordinate onboarding activities for our full-time and hourly employees to ensure that the new hire orientation process properly introduces new employees to the culture
- Management and overall organization of employee files, HR data, and reporting in ADP Workforce Now
- Determine and analyze department requirements by conducting surveys, forming focus groups, and analyzing responses providing recommendations to the team
- Support benefits administration for all employees (i.e. entering, updating, auditing) and recommends changes in benefits offered
- Support all employees in the application of Human Resources policies and best practices, providing guidance and advice as appropriate
- Working closely with the P&C Business Partner, identify funding opportunities for the company and administer grant applications for training and development
- Manage travel arrangements and hotel accommodations for staff travel
- Coordinate and organize culture activities including team building initiatives, company wide events, lunch and learns, #SpillTheBeans (our ‘All Hands’), and more!

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent; OR an equivalent combination of education and transferable experience
- Strong working knowledge of HR practices and principles with demonstrated experience in full cycle recruitment
- Strong working knowledge of Google Suite and MS Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous work experience in a fast-paced start-up is considered an asset
- Must be located in Vancouver or Victoria
