Job description: What’s the ask
Reporting to the Director, TPA Operations & Client Experience, the Manager is responsible for staff support and overseeing the effective and efficient operation of the Claims department in support of departmental and corporate goals and objectives.
More specifically, the Claims Manager will:
- Ensure teams meet or exceed service levels for all products and service offerings to clients
- Develop/implement production management metrics and protocols to ensure delivery of customer expectations in alignment with contractual requirements
- Ensure that processes are cataloged and documented
- Create a culture of innovation by continuously reviewing existing processes in order to discover efficiencies
- Guide and support team members and direct reports on workload management and employee management processes to ensure tasks are prioritized in the correct manner
- Assess staff performance
- Hire, train, and evaluate employees and take corrective action when necessary
- Develop, review, and improve administrative systems, policies, and procedures
- Offer solutions for improvement
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management
- Oversee special projects and track progress towards company goals
- Interact with other departments and ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information
- Demonstrate strong leadership abilities, to include; inspire, motivate, engage and lead employees
- Participate in existing and new client meetings
- Resolve escalated client and member issues and communicate with key stakeholders
- Play a key role in onboarding of new clients
- Collaborate with project managers, other departments and clients on projects
- Keep abreast of industry trends, changes and updates
What does it take
- Post-secondary degree in a related field, such as business administration or the equivalent training acquired from a combination of relevant work experience and education
- At least 5 years of professional experience involving managing a team. This must include hiring, training, performance evaluations, performance management, coaching, and motivating employees
- Extensive knowledge of group benefits
- Proficiency in MS Office products with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (bilingualism preferred)
- Strong initiative, planning, and problem-solving skills, including an ability to focus on both details and results.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Demonstrated experience mapping business processes using proven methodologies and models
- Proven exceptional people management skills
- Demonstrated experience meeting deliverables and service targets
- Ability to influence others and move towards a common vision or goal
- Comfortable presenting to groups of all sizes
- Expertise in the development of the strategic plan/goals for the department through the ongoing evaluation of processes, software, policies and procedures and subsequently recommending changes when/where appropriate
- Ability to troubleshoot business processes, errors, and subsequent modifications
- Effective deadline management and project management skills
- Understanding of service level agreements and customer service standards
