Medela Canada Inc. is based in Mississauga, ON. The Distribution Manager is an on-site position.

Position Responsibilities- Distribution Manager

  • Plans, organizes, and manages day-to-day operations of the distribution center.
  • Manages all distribution center processes, including accurate receipt, timely replenishment, and distribution of products to the picking/shipping and production areas to ensure maximum levels of customer service.
  • Plan and execute the development of supervisors and distribution associates through appropriate training, education, and coaching on warehousing, inventory accuracy techniques, problem-solving, continuous improvement, safety, and leadership skills.
  • Responsible for all product warehouse movements, inventory accuracy, and FDA quality system compliance.
  • Maintain neat, orderly, and clean warehouse and shipping areas that meet or exceed all Health Canada standards.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a budget for the distribution center.
  • Facilitates negotiations of transportation contracts and tariffs with all domestic and some international carriers.
  • Coordinates activities with outside service providers, 3PL’s, and manages remote locations and staffing when required.
  • Responsible for the identification, planning, and implementation of operational process improvements that enhance overall business efficiency, quality, and ensure a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate performance metrics (OTS, scrap, productivity etc).
  • Supervises employees by planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Travel as may be required to meet business and customer expectations

Education/Experience Requirements- Distribution Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ of warehousing and distribution experience required.
  • Minimum four years’ management/supervisory experience required.
  • Facility management experience required.
  • Very strong ERP and WMS. Sage 100 and SAP experience highly desired.
  • 3PL experience required.
  • Must have knowledge and practical experience in current inventory control techniques, warehouse and picking/packing facility planning, and integrated business management systems.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification or experience required.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Experience working in an environment with global objectives.
