Must haves:
- Preferred VMware Data Center and/or Network Virtualization certification
- Proven hands on experience with on-prem cloud environments such as VMware, automation, patching and CI/CD pipelines for Infrastructure as code.
- Extensive experience on networking design and implementation using SDN, Tenants and Micro Segmentation using VMware.
- VCF deployment experience and federation. VMware Cloud Foundation experience.
Responsibilities:
The Resource works in partnership with Cloud Vendors, Corporate Services Procurement, Infrastructure, Network & Security Operations and Ministry application owners to:
- Create and use automation to enable and integrate new on-prem and public cloud services and providers
- Provide expertise for on-prem cloud services and improve/align them with new technology stacks and models
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud end-to-end architecture, including networking, provisioning, and management
- Conduct migration of applications to on-prem or public cloud
- Design, implementation and troubleshoot on-prem Cloud(VMware) and its networking using NSX and ACI
- Integrate cloud hosting services with existing solutions including networking
- Lead creation and automation for tenants on-prem and within Cloud
- Enablement of automation via application programming interfaces to integrate with common services
- Implementation of operational models including patch management, reporting, service cards, intake models and billing/recovery mechanism
- Guide integration team to enable networking and pipeline services
- Assist in DevOps best practices and patterns
- Integration and automation of operational models including patch management, reporting, service cards, intake models and billing/recovery mechanisms
- Support projects with migration to cloud as part of standard refresh cycles or enhancement
- Utilize best-practice cloud security designs to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the secure environment
- Lead complex troubleshooting for on-prem VMware and Networking
- Preferred VMware Data Center and/or Network Virtualization certification is required.
The Resource will act as a subject matter expert on a variety of cloud projects initiatives including the on-prem VMWare. The Resource will:
- Collect Information
- Evaluate client and/or ITS’ requirements
- Develop implementation plans
- Execute implementation plans
- Create User Stories and Documentation
- Solve any incidents and problems at complex levels
- Assist Operational Teams and Clusters with day to day activities
The Resource will follow ITS processes and deliver Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS) Enterprise Planning and Project delivery Services (EPPDS) design collateral for each of the projects, such collateral to include, but not necessarily be limited to:
- Client Letters of Intent
- Client Requirement Documents
- Solution Blueprints and design canves
- Client Proposals
- POC designs and hands on implementations
- Contributions to related Change Request Quotes (CRQ)
- Contributions to related Project Change Requests (PCR)
General Skills:
- Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level
- Ability to collaborate with IT Professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications

- Strong conceptual and practical understanding of Networking (ACI) and VMware(NSX)

NOTE:
This position is currently listed as “Hybrid”; however, the consultant will be remote due to COVID-19 related Work from Home (WFH) direction. Once the I&IT cluster staff are required to return to the office, the resource under this request will be required to work onsite as well.
