Job description: RCGT is seeking an Associate (or Senior Associate) to join its rapidly growing Financial Advisory team (M&A and Corporate Finance). The successful candidate will join a highly entrepreneurial and active advisory group, which has established a strong position in Quebec’s mid-market segment, providing impactful and customized advisory services to its clients at key junctures in their business’ evolution. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on transaction experience under the guidance and coaching of the group’s experienced leaders.

The Financial Advisory group is looking for a highly motivated, energetic and self-starter candidate who will execute/produce complex financial analyses, research, marketing materials and presentations in a wide spectrum of industries, as well as mentoring analysts. As the successful candidate’s career progresses, they will be expected to take on increased responsibilities including managing live transactions and client relationships.

The successful candidate will be involved in several aspects of developing and executing M&A and Corporate Finance transactions within the group. The successful candidate will also manage and perform complex analyses and research assignments in a wide spectrum of industries and serve as a key member of the team’s go-to resources.

The Financial Advisory Associate (Senior Associate) will be in charge of supporting the senior team team with tasks that include:

  • Preparing financial models and various analyses and valuations, including DCF, LBOs, public company and comparable transaction analyses, etc.;
  • Conducting a wide range of industry research and analysis
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations to potential clients;
  • Assisting in the preparation of required documentation to present opportunities to potential acquirers, investors and lenders, including teasers and confidential information memorandums;
  • Researching and identifying potential strategic and financial buyers and other investors;
  • Supporting the transaction, execution and due diligence processes;
  • Supervising and mentoring analysts in their deliverables.

A focus on detail and accuracy are essential. The role of the Associate is challenging and fast-paced. It requires dedication, passion for the industry, and a solid work ethic.

Minimum educational credentials should consist of an undergraduate degree in business (or equivalent) ideally with a focus on Finance. Additional post-secondary education including MBA, or additional professional accreditations or designations such as CFA, CA/CPA, CBV are strongly desired.

Your qualifications, talents and assets should include:

  • At a minimum two to four years of full-time work experience in corporate finance, investment banking, accounting or private equity;
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Finance, Accounting or Economics);
  • CPA, CBV or CFA professional designation (an asset);
  • Strong financial/analytical skills related to corporate finance and securities analysis;
  • High degree of work ethic and motivation;
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word and financial markets software and applications including Bloomberg, FactSet and Capital IQ;
  • Strong verbal and written English and French communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Accounting and corporate finance proficiency, including knowledge of financial statements and general accounting principles, financial statement analysis, valuation methods, etc.;
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and proven track record in project execution in a similar fast-paced professional setting.
  • A track record of taking initiative;
  • A demonstrated proficiency in problem solving; and
  • A strong interest in and understanding of the financial markets
