Job description: Your Opportunity:

Working under the general supervision and guidance of the Supervisor, Registration, Switchboard and Patient Information, the Administrative Support III is responsible for obtaining and inputting accurate demographic and financial information on the appropriate hospital information system for patients presenting at various entry points of the health system. Essential functions of the position; Obtains and records accurate demographic and financial information on patients, by interviewing patients, family members and/or care providers face to face or remotely. Consistently applies Positive Patient Identification during the registration/pre-registration process to ensure accurate record linkage. Verifies patient eligibility as it relates to healthcare coverage. Reviews Financial Agreement Forms with patients who do not have valid provincial healthcare coverage and ensures that forms are completed appropriately. Prepares identification labels and identification wristbands. Informs patients about options for accommodation and the process for requesting preferred accommodation. Consistently applies best practice as outlined in the Provincial Registration Standards and Practices Manual. Additional duties and responsibilities may be required as per operational needs. This position provides receptionist functions including assisting patients and visitors with wayfinding; switchboard services; retrieves patient charts and assist with orientation of new staff. The position is also responsible for Cash Collection protocols and assuring secure handling and accurate recording of payments collected at the point-of-service delivery. Description:

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of Business Administrative//MOA course. Medical Terminology required, proficiency test will be administered. Keyboarding of 40 wpm, proficiency test will be administered. Must have working knowledge of a hospital based admission module. Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Knowledge of legislation regarding access, privacy and disclosure of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Meditech, Provincial Registration Standards & Practices, PD & ROCA an asset. Experience in Medical office setting. Experience operating a switchboard. Attention to detail, ability to set & organize own work priorities. Must have a high degree of customer service skills, critical thinking skills and ability to demonstrate flexibility within an environment of constant interruptions and changing work demands.
