Job description: Analyst, Development (Based in Toronto, Canada or New York, USA)
Based at either the North & Central America Regional Office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada or home based in New York, USA, this position reports to the Senior Vice President, Development, North & Central America and provides support to the North & Central America (NCA) Regional Development team.

What you will be doing:
- Prepare initial site and market analyses including demographic reports, maps, competition reports, and general site information
- Develop and maintain financial models and pro-formas for new development opportunities
- Assist key members of the Development Department with documentation and review of business terms for new management, acquisition and development opportunities throughout North and Central America and assist in administrative reporting for global development
- Review of legal documents and implementation of terms into financial models.
- Provide logistical support to the development team with respect to negotiation, due diligence and deal closing, including drafting of documents & memos, preparation of PowerPoint presentations and coordination activities.
- Create presentations quarterly for C-Level Executive meetings providing overview and investment analysis for new development opportunities.
- Maintain pipeline document and facilitate communication of deal status within development team and other departments internally
- Maintain and update all development brand presentations and make sure images, data and facts are up to date.
- Liaise with global development team in Paris to provide monthly updates.
- Download and maintain market reports from external sources
- Work cross-functionally to enhance utilization of internal data in order to increase accuracy of underwriting.
- Accurately and thoroughly complete transition-related tasks including, but not limited to, developing budgets, reviewing leases, reviewing offering memorandum, responding to lenders to resolve underwriting questions, reviewing loan documents, and running models to show budget implications within established timeframes.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of the industry and market trends, competitive intelligence, and consumers
- Maintenance and evolution of detailed financial models.
- Maintenence and tracking of Development budgets for multiple projects.
Your experience and skills include:
- Financial or business oriented university degree, MBA or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of financial analysis experience, in development, asset management or consulting.
- Strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills are mandatory
- Detail-oriented – strict attention to detail and accuracy is crucial
- Must be able to handle many tasks accurately, in a rapidly changing environment, against a backdrop of time/work load pressures.
- Expert skills with Excel, Word & PowerPoint are mandatory, as are strong writing and communication skills generally.
- Familiar with Smith Travel Research (STR), CBRE Reports
- Thorough understanding of hospitality industry and hotel operations.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English
- Problem solving and analytical skills
Your team and working environment:
- Based at the North & Central America Regional Office in Toronto, Ontario, this position will be a part of the Regoinal Development team.
