Milk Education is working in partnership with a number of Primary and SEND Schools across Newcaslte upon Tyne who are looking to employ Teaching Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs such as Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for supporting children in their education and those with a background in supporting vulnerable adults or young people with learning disabilities. The roles are full time, long term positions and have the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.

Roles and Responsibilities;

• Organise outside-the-classroom learning activities, which include sports and/or school outings
• Work closely with both parents of children so as to achieve progress.
• Carry out administrative duties in the nature of keeping and maintaining records of each child’s progress.
• Work with fellow SEN teaching assistants to identify specific needs of each child.
• Work hand-in-hand with the classroom teachers to ensure that activities that are being put in place for children are related to national curriculum.
• Work closely with other professionals like educational psychologists or physiotherapists.
• Teach and mentor students, both collectively and individually.
• Look after children’s social and emotional needs.
• Communicate with students to determine their needs and ensure they are equally met.
• Observe children to find out changes in behaviour or in other areas and report such observations to the classroom teacher.
• Help children in personal care, such as hygiene and clothing.

What you need to apply;

• Experience working with vulnerable adults in last 2 years.
• Knowledge and experience in supporting children or adults with SEND.
• A child workforce DBS on the update service (Or willing to apply)
• An enthusiastic and creative approach to supporting children
