Your opportunity:
The Office of Experiential Learning & Outreach Support (ELOS) in the Faculty of Arts & Science has a mandate to grow quality experiential learning opportunities for Arts & Science students, including work-integrated learning, co-op / internships, career-engaged learning, community-engaged learning, research, and international opportunities.
The Faculty of Arts & Science’s 2020-2025 Academic Plan calls for an ambitious plan to expand experiential learning opportunities available to undergraduate students across all Arts & Science disciplines. The Faculty is committed to preparing students for lifelong success in the labour market, deepening relationships with local partners in the public, private and non-profit sectors and increasing opportunities for international student mobility. As part of our expansion of experiential learning, we launched the Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP) in Fall 2021. The program provides specialized professional development training and paid work-integrated learning opportunities for Arts & Science students across 20 different academic programs, with plans for annual growth. Participation in the ASIP stream allows students to explore career options, apply their academic learning in a professional context, gain valuable work experience, and build a professional network. Reporting to the Associate Director, Employer Relations & Operations, the Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP) Coordinator is an integral part of the Employer Relations & Operations team and serves as a bridge between employers and students. The incumbent is responsible for implementing co-operative education activities and programming for Arts & Science students registered in ASIP. The primary focus of the position is co-op position business development and relationship management, working with employers to generate and secure appropriate work term opportunities; and the secondary focus of the position is student development, advising and supporting students’ work term engagement and being available for student questions with respect to their participation in ASIP. The ASIP Coordinator will:
- Cultivate new employers (locally, nationally, and internationally) and maintain strong relationships with existing employers, all the while creating and executing plans to meet each employer’s holistic recruiting needs.
- Work closely with students in their assigned program(s) and/or industries/sectors to identify potential employers and connect students to meaningful employment opportunities.
- In partnership with the Employer Relations & Operations team, ensure a seamless recruiting and hiring experience for employer partners.
- Together with the Student Services team, coach and provide guidance to students through the recruitment cycle and while on a work term, ensuring employment targets are met or exceeded and with a high level of employer and student satisfaction.
- Be an energetic, creative, outside-of-the-box thinker who will develop innovative ways for employers from diverse sectors to engage with U of T Arts & Science students
- Support marketing and promotion of U of T co-op and internship programs at relevant external events.

For this position we are ideally recruiting for applicants with a deep understanding of Humanities and Social Science programs and knowledge of relevant job opportunities (NGO’s, NPO’s etc.) for students from these or closely related disciplines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Promoting programming, student needs and interests to employers and industry contacts
- Researching and analyzing potential employers and recommending student placement opportunities
- Promoting programs at recruitment events
- Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development
- Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
- Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities
- Advising students on work related recruitment processes and practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the humanities and/or social sciences program or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in employer development, relationship management, sales, and/or business development.
- Knowledge and experience working in/with co-operative education and work-integrated learning programming, career advising, employment standards, and workplace rights.
- Experience providing direct support to students, new graduates, or individuals in the areas of career, skill development, and/or career transition.
- Experience and ability to work with a diverse client group across multiple sectors.
- Highly driven to meet targets, proactive, persuasive, and diplomatic.
- Experience and ability to work in and comfort within a fast-paced student services environment juggling many activities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
- Excellent marketing and account management, sales, and public relations skills.
- Experience working with Experiential Learning Management Software, e.g. Orbis and CSM (Symplicity).
- Ability to show sound judgement in dealing with confidential information.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs and strong IT fluency.
- In depth knowledge of the postsecondary sector, the entry-level labour market, and employment trends.
- Highly developed sense of accountability, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience working with Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g. Salesforce) to track individual leads, outcomes, and performance.
- International work experience and international program knowledge is an asset.
