Now we’re adding a new member to our team: a capable and experienced finance professional who is ready to take ownership of a new and critical role. That’s where you come in As our new Assistant Manager, Finance and Accounting you will be an essential part of our daily, monthly, and yearly financial operations. Using a fine attention to detail and an in-depth knowledge of standard financial systems, analyses, and processes, you will ensure accurate financial data at all times. The best in this role will do more than just draft accurate reports and tax statements: they will offer key insights into our financial operations, and provide suggestions and strategies for improving the work of our finance department. Here are some of the things you will be working on: * Managing month-end financial statement closing schedule for a group of privately held companies (domestic and foreign) * Preparation/calculation of losses/gains, deferred revenue, tax provision, etc. * Completing supporting schedules for working paper files (fixed asset continuity, corporate income tax continuity, etc.) * Managing ongoing domestic and international corporate compliance requirements such as reporting associated with value added taxes, Statistics Canada, statutory payroll deductions, etc. * Managing applications and ongoing compliance requirements associated with outgoing and incoming Letters of Credit * Detailed financial analysis and reporting, including cash flow, projections, labour efficiencies, etc. Our manager is currently responsible for this position, and as you take over those responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to learn from someone experienced in the role. Working with EMS-Tech This is a full-time, permanent position, with hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. In addition to an attractive starting salary, between $70,000 and $90,000 per year, depending on your experience, you’ll also receive a standard benefits package plus pension. Qualifications * 5+ years progressive accounting experience, preferably in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field * Professional accounting designation * Experience in a privately held group or similar organization would be an asset * Deep understanding of Canadian tax systems and ability to apply them in international tax contexts * Strong computer skills, and proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Access), as well as common accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage) * Supervisory experience would be an asset * Ability to pass a criminal record check * Ability travel within Canada and internationally How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
