True Key Hotels & Resorts proudly manages Nootka Marine Adventures at the Moutcha Bay Resort, located at the mouth of the Conuma River just 40 minutes west of Gold River, in the beautiful sheltered waters of Nootka Sound, BC. It is easily accessible by car, float plane or boat. Moutcha Bay Resort provides a unique collection of wilderness accommodation, adventure products and services not otherwise found in our region, such as guided fishing, boat & equipment rentals, and an onsite full-service restaurant. This position is available at Moutcha Bay Resort and is a seasonal full-time assistant position. The Assistant Marine Technician reports directly to the Marine Technician and will be the right hand to the Marine Technician.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience working on Yamaha outboard powered vessels, boat handling and safe operation of vessels up to 33′.
- Proven marine handy-man experience, with safety, efficiency and cleanliness as a top priority.
- Adequate set of personal tools required to undertake fleet maintenance.
- Skills and dedication to working safely with other and independently.
- Strong communication skills.
- Enjoys fast paced dynamic work environment.
- Responds well to instruction and direction given.
Following Certifications considered an asset:
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
- MED A3 Marine Emergency Distress
- Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
- Level 1 – Marine First Aid
- Prior remote work – work performed at remote fishing lodge
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assisting the Marine Technician with Complete maintenance on Nootka Marine Adventures fleet of vessels in a timely manner while prioritizing your time and work orders.
- Follow routine maintenance programs set out by Yamaha Canada.
- Assist in complete spring start -up and fall winterization of each vessel.
- Ensure detailed maintenance log for each vessel in the fleet Including ECM readings.
- Servicing of Yamaha and other outboard engines
- Wiring of marine electrical systems (sonar, navigation components, bilge pumps/washdown pumps etc.)
- Safe operation of company truck and tractor to Launch/pull company and customer vessels at our on-site boat ramp
- Fiberglass repair work
- Assist in removal and replacement of outboard engines
- Boat trailer repair (bearings etc.)
- Ordering shop supplies related to the Marine Department
- Assist in the maintenance of supplies and asset inventory for smooth tracking and management of supplies and assets
- Troubleshooting marine electrical issues
- General Marine maintenance for sport fishing vessels (downrigger wiring, rod holder placement, helm services etc.)
