This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the supervision or direction of regulated health professionals, the Care Team Assistant (CTA), provides direct, hands-on care based on the needs of the patient and program/or unit. As a member of the collaborative care team, the CTA is responsible for supporting patients’ activities of daily living (AOL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). The CTA also reinforces patient and family teaching according to established guidelines and the plan of care.

Qualifications

  • Grade XII
  • Continuing Care Assistant Program plus certification (or equivalent as defined by the employer)
  • Previous Long Term Care experience preferred
  • Alzheimer and Dementia Care courses preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Understands the principles of patient-focused care as it relates to a geriatric population
  • Understands the concepts of working within an interdisciplinary team as an approach to providing patient care
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

Where there are no applicants with provincial certification the employer may consider candidates who are eligible to write the CCA knowledge exam and obtain certification within one year from their date of hire.

Hours of Work

  • Permanent Part-time (70%) Position; 52.5 hours bi-weekly

Salary Information

$18.6676 – $20.1920 hourly
