Overview: As Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you are the senior administrative leader for the Municipality. You are responsible for managing its obligations in accordance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA) of Nova Scotia. Working with a Council of 11, including the Warden, you have strong political insight as a core competency. You provide respectful guidance to Council and under their directive ensure that policies, programs and services are carried out efficiently and effectively. You support a competent senior management team as well as staff in achieving performance objectives. Lastly, you maintain strong ties with citizens and businesses of the County to ensure they are aware of major projects and initiatives being undertaken.

Qualifications: Preferably you have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior administrative management roles in government or similar organization, coupled with post-secondary education in a related field. You have considerable experience with creating consensus among elected officials, staff and other levels of government as well as citizens. You understand the challenges and problems that municipalities are facing and comprehend best practices in economic development, financial management, human resources, administration, operations, emergency management and governance. You bring with you a history of accomplishments and success and have well developed skills in communication, problem solving and leadership. You have vast experience working with an elected Board or Council and have an extensive understanding of good governance. You should share our goal to develop a diverse workforce that represents the citizens in which we serve.
