The Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Associate Vice-Principal (Information Technology Services) leads the development of the IT strategy and roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders across the institution. Reporting to the Vice-Principal (Finance and Administration), as part of an engaged leadership team committed to a shared institutional vision, the CIO will bring current knowledge and future ideas for leveraging information and technology in higher education to fulfill the University’s strategic goals and objectives. Within this vibrant community of learning and research, the CIO provides IT strategy development, policy and planning leadership in support of the University’s academic, research and administrative goals.

The incoming CIO will be energized by an environment with a strong appetite for change. Building on the foundation in place, they will reinforce the role of IT not only as a key enabler, but also as a strategic partner, to strengthen diverse student success and research impact through enabling information and technology services. The CIO will drive the digital strategy and transformation forward, aligned with the Principal’s new Strategic Framework, anticipated in Fall of 2021. In this decentralized environment, the CIO will connect across the university and external partners to collaboratively develop a future vision of information technology goals and objectives and to champion and deliver on this vision by creating synergies between distributed units and aligning efforts in the implementation of enterprise capabilities. The CIO leads an accomplished team of approximately 140 in IT Services.

A strong business partner, the successful candidate will be a highly engaged and inspiring leader with an ability to create, operationalize, and execute the vision for accessible and inclusive digital transformation. Along with your compelling vision, you bring practical IT strategies, and an ability to guide, influence, inspire, and collaborate across a complex, multi-constituent, decentralized environment. A natural communicator with client-centric focus, you translate highly technical subject matter into strong business cases with clear value propositions. Your background includes leading high-performance teams in areas such as digital business transformation, cybersecurity, data and analytics, and infrastructure and operations. Your leadership skills are rooted in a commitment to diverse engagement and support your ability to develop, motivate, and engage the diverse, inclusive and talented teams necessary to deliver excellent service.
