Our Right of Way Department is seeking Truck Driver(s) to join our team for a project in Northern Ontario.
Camp position, travel is provided from approved major airports.
This is a union position with $6/hr RRSP contributions, tool allowances, benefits and has daily overtime including double time on Sunday’s.
Requirements:
- Ensure that the truck and trailers they are operating are always in good working order.
- Perform pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights, turning signals and brakes.
- Ensure cargo is secured properly
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
- Maintain logbooks.
- Follow safe, defensive driving practices.
- Undertake such duties as chaining up that in their judgment may be required to affect the safe transportation and delivery of the equipment and load.
- Report any vehicle collision or property damage immediately
- Report, no later than the next arrival their home terminal all CVSA inspections, traffic violations, nonmoving violations, including any citations they may have received during their duties.
- Report claims, overages, shortages, damage, or loss of equipment per Company policy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that your driver’s licence is current and valid
- Ensure that your driver’s licence qualifies you for the type of equipment you are operating.
- Report any changes about your health which may affect your ability to drive safely (e.g., diabetes, seizures, heart attack, high blood pressure).
- Follow all general safety regulations, traffic safety regulations, and other regulations pertaining to the operation of commercial vehicles.
- All other related duties as assigned by the site manager
- Ability to work alone and as a part of a team.
- Ability to provide a drug and alcohol clearance
- Work a 20/10 work shift rotation
- Working night shift where applicable
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Require a Class 1 or equivalent licence with a clean driver’s abstract
- No conviction for impaired driving within the last 5 years.
- Have at least three (3) years driving experience on class 1 vehicles.
- Have a good knowledge of traffic safety and other regulations pertaining to the trucking industry
- Be trained and knowledgeable in the Hours-of-Service regulations
- Be trained and knowledgeable in Cargo securement
- Be trained and knowledgeable in Vehicle inspections
- Be trained and knowledgeable in Weights and Dimensions according to provincial regulations
- Have a good knowledge of general safety regulations.
- Be proficient at containing, immobilizing, and securing cargo.
- Standard First Aid an asset
- H2S Alive an asset
- TDG Certificate an asset
- Client requires all workers on site to be fully vaccinated
