This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
Responsibilities
Reports directly to the Manager of Support Services & Community Programs. The Clerk provides clerical services for the Mental Health & Addictions program. The Clerk will also support and promote the mission, goals and objectives of the Mental Health & Addictions program.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Clerk is responsible for clerical duties essential to reception. The Clerk is responsible for timely accurate registration of patients by obtaining information, entering the information into the appropriate system, coordinating the flow of patients and documents, and assisting patients and care providers when necessary.
The Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all patient records and loose documents are prepared, scanned, indexed and released into the Patient Folder based on established policies and procedures with the highest level of quality possible. The Clerk is also responsible for customer service duties that includes responding to telephone calls and in-person requests and booking/cancelling of appointments.
The Clerk performs all duties while maintaining a high standard of maturity and discretion in handling confidential matters.
Qualifications
- High School Graduation with completion of a recognized office procedure/secretarial course.
- Completion of an approved Medical Terminology course is an asset.
- Demonstrated skills and experience with Windows and Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel. Outlook and Explorer experience is required.
- Training and experience on the Meditech system is required.
- Previous experience in a mental health or related setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; must be an effective team player.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be well organized and ability to meet deadlines.
- Previous work attendance may be considered.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
Hours of Work
Permanent, Full Time (100%) Position; 70 hours bi-weekly
Salary Information
$20.0857 – $21.9045 Hourly
