JOB SUMMARY

The chief objective of this position:

The Clinical Dietitian II is responsible for pediatric/ adolescent patients in outpatient endocrine clinics with a focus on nutrition education for diabetes and weight management. The Clinical Dietitian II will serve on a dynamic and growing team performing comprehensive nutrition assessments, diagnose nutrition-related problems, determine and implement appropriate targeted nutrition interventions, and monitor and evaluate outcomes utilizing the Nutrition Care Process. The Clinical Dietitian II is responsible for nutrition education to patients and parents and will participate in on-going education programs for hospital staff, community/ parent groups and professional organizations. Participates in performance improvement and outcome research activities.

The preferred Clinical Dietitian II has a minimum of one year of experience in pediatric diabetes/endocrine medical nutrition therapy and outpatient counseling. Experience in motivational interviewing and weight management are highly desirable. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Will consult and collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the hospital and practice plan. Participates in education of clinical nutrition interns, medical students, residents, fellows, nurses and other clinicians.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

Registered as a Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:

Maintenance of Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

CPR training for those practicing in the outpatient nutrition clinic

Experience REQUIRED:

One or more years of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting as a Registered Dietitian (unless grandfathered in under previous position requirements – 11/20)

Experience PREFERRED

One or more years of experience providing pediatric nutrition care and counseling for children with diabetes in an acute care or outpatient setting as a Registered Dietitian

Education/training REQUIRED:

Bachelors Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university

Education/training PREFERRED:

Outpatient positions: Specialty certification in the area of practice; Certificate in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management); Motivational interview training.

Experience with clinical research protocols for applicable positions.
