A full time and permanent vacancy exists for a Construction Electrician who will be based at our fabrication facility at 3721 Drinkwater Rd, Duncan, British Columbia, V9L 6P2. The role requires the candidate to travel to various project sites across BC as needed on a shift rotation of 21 days on and 7 days off. Reporting to the Project Manager in charge of a specific project, the successful candidate will form part of the Construction maintenance team and will take responsibility for the maintenance, repair and mobilization of all construction related electrical equipment to maximize reliability and availability of Surespan’s equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
- Establish and support electrical preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment availability and reliability is maintained.
- Resolve electrical breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform duties in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Install and maintain emergency electrical equipment
- Utilize construction documents, including blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
- Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors
- Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
- Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels
- Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
- Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair
- Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Construction Electrician or eligibility to challenge the Red Seal from BC Industry Training Authority
- Experience in testing electronic equipment and installation of high voltage switchgear
- Experience in Isolation and lock out will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of equipment reliability & availability.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical control systems.
- Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- High energy and initiative
- Ability to complete a rotational shift of work 21 days away from home for 10 -12 hours a day followed by 7 days at home.
