Your Opportunity
The PM/CM is responsible to ensure the work is completed on time, on budget, and in accordance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements. Monitoring the day-to-day project management activities of the Stantec design group or supporting the Contractors management team, the PM/CM supports project execution objectives. Acting as the primary liaison between the Owner, Stantec Team and Construction Contractor for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) execution. As the Owner’s Representative you will be responsible for cost, and schedule issues include ensuring technical requirements of the project are understood and achieved.
We are looking to fill this position for opportunities all over North America this opportunity will be based primarily in Alberta.
Your Key Responsibilities
Developing and promoting a site culture of safety, environmental, quality and regulatory compliance.
Supporting product realization and productivity by establishing a collective and inclusive Owner/Contractor dynamic.
Lead and/or facilitate kick off, progress, environmental, safety, quality, socioeconomic, and other meetings.
Lead development of the Construction Execution Plan (CEP) including coordination with the Construction Contractor(s) and associated stakeholders. Typically, CEP documentation is from Client perspective then integration of Construction Contractor(s) construction execution plan
Manage and lead additional project resources such as project controls, inspection support for quality assurance and administrative support as required for the specific project in collaboration with the Project Engineer. Org charts are typically developed to also provide clear lines of communications
Establish effective communications plan. This plan is typically within the CEP along with org charts showing lines of communication.
Implementation of a request for information (RFI) system is also typically required to document questions that the Construction Contractor(s) needs resolution on in a timely manner. Facilitate a process for timely communication and resolution of technical issues that arise during design, planning and construction
Document and manage permitting requirements as determined by Client and regulatory agencies. Project Manager is responsible for follow up and reports regarding status of permit approvals and impacts on construction.
Comply with Stantec 10 Points PM Framework
Interact with Contractor construction management team on a daily basis to proactively address issues and overcome challenges.
Identify, communicate, and document and mitigate project risks in the risk register.
Establish and ensure project controls are in place for cost and schedule.
Monitor the productivity of the EPCM team performance including the Construction Contractor and identify opportunities for improvement.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports as required.
Participate and lead in schedule and milestone development and tracking.
Participate and lead in the review of Engineering and contractor schedules (this includes “look ahead scheduling” with the contractor to ensure overall project schedules are met).
Ensure the Contractor and EPCM team are supporting the overall project objectives.
Identify and communicate social risks to project team members and owner.
Ensure construction deficiency lists and/or punchlists are identified/developed including plans to address deficiencies.
Support commissioning and turnover to operations.
Support project close out including claims resolution and lessons learned.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills.
Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Advanced skills in use of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Able to travel and stay at a job site for extended periods of time
Education and Experience
Post-secondary and/or 15-20 years industry experience equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of industry experience on Major Project in a leadership role.
Position will work in office and field setting. Visits construction sites and works in outside weather conditions.
