The QA Coordinator helps manage HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and the BRC program (which includes maintaining, updating, implementation and verification of procedures, documents, validations, processes) On an ongoing bases, perform reassessment to ensure compliance to regulations. This role works very closely with Manager, Bakery Quality for the site and will be second if charge of the site.

SHIFT:

  • Monday to Friday, Days (8AM-4PM)
  • Occasional weekend coverage when Production is producing over-runs (Lieu-time)

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements bakery policies and ensures existing programs are up to date and meet all corporate and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct record and on-site verifications to ensure written program matches current processes;
  • Implement and ensure adherence to GMPs
  • When there is deviation, responsible for reporting and recommending corrective actions and preventative measures based on root cause analysis to implement compliance
  • Development of training material and conduct training on food safety and quality requirements for management and associates;
  • Accountable for preparation and participation in all internal/third party/CFIA audits;
  • Maintain professional interaction with third party auditors /CFIA/Contractors and assist CFIA with CVS Tasks;
  • Manage Internal Audit Program; responsible for follow-up on non-conformances  Leads the annual re-assessment of the facility pre-requisite, records and policies and procedures requirements to ensure program objectives and food safety programs are met;
  • Lead monthly HACCP Team meeting and provide monthly HACCP System performance reports;  Issue supplier non-conformances, as required. Follow up on corrective actions and escalate where required;  Ownership of labelling program including: carton artwork review, corrugate label generation and maintenance, label obsoletion.  Initiate recall in case of a recall; Involved in real recalls as per Recall SOP
  • Cover for QA Manager and QA Technician vacations and be able to lead the team of Quality Assurance Technicians in absence of the QA Manager
  • Support FSQA functions across a variety of shifts (morning, afternoon, evening, weekend);
  • Assist with customer complaints and escalate where required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science or a related discipline, with 2 years of food safety related experience is required;
  • HACCP Certification required;
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, GFSI, FMSA, Quality Regulatory requirements and systems;
  • Strong computer knowledge and ability to work with various programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy, able to quickly prioritize needs.
  • Work effectively as an individual with minimal supervision or as a team member, as required.
