At Randstad Student Support we have new and exciting opportunity recruiting for experienced Counsellors to work with students at Universities in Manchester. The role will be remote so you won’t have any travel costs.

This position is part-time, working as part of our Counselling & Mental Health Support Team, using short-term intervention to guide the student towards self development methods over a 5 week period for each student. Finding proactive solutions, using an empathetic approach to understand and meet the emotional, mental and social needs of students to help them create stability for their well-being and university life.

  • Counselling sessions expected to be 3 days per week, with 5 one hour sessions per day (with some variation)
  • All counselling sessions are currently remote – so you can work from the comfort of your own home

  • Opportunity to provide other support roles such as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor

Responsibilities:

  • Provide therapeutic counselling support to students experiencing emotional and mental health issues based on their own unique needs.
  • Working 1:1 on certain issues such as transition, anxiety, self help, self-esteem, eating distress, procrastination and exam panic.
  • Empathising with the students over their personal and emotional needs while working alongside with the student to promote self help, using self help tools.
  • Following risk assessment and safeguarding escalation processes stated by both Randstad and the university the student attends
  • Maintaining a confidential approach at all times when working with the students or discussing any information with any other members of staff. Meeting all GDPR requirements

Requirements:

Educated to postgraduate Diploma or Masters Level in counselling, psychotherapy or counselling psychology and hold an accredited professional body membership

  • Accredited Membership of the BACP, UKCP, NCS or BPS – or actively working towards such accreditation.
  • A clear DBS to cover vulnerable adults
  • Monthly clinical supervision in order to maintain your professional standards

Desirable:

  • Keeping up to date with developments in your area of practice and contributing to improvements of operations in the team.
  • Experience of counselling in University setting and experience of caseload management.
  • Ability to triage student needs quickly and appropriately
  • Risk assessment and management skills
