Your responsibilities

Mission Statement :

Drive accountability, high HSE performance and caring safety culture within a decentralized structure.
Minimize impact on the environment by continuously decreasing the environmental footprint and manage the risk exposure to ABB assets and reputation.

Main Responsibilities :

Governance and organization

Ensure that an effective HSE Governance system is in place and well run via ABB Canada HSE Board.
Ensure area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
Guides, motivates and develops direct/indirect subordinates within HR policies.

Metrics

Consolidates data from the incident database and reports to the Electrification & Country Managing Director.
Reports on progress re implementation of Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Regulatory compliance

Tracks and assesses cluster-related emerging trends and legislation and communicates relevant information on local legal requirements.
Be the country HSE representative with local authorities (Worker Compensation Boards, Ministry of labor, Ministry of Environment etc.)

Risk management

Manage Environmental risks via the ABB Cana Environmental Steering Committee.
Ensure legacy sites are effectively managed.
Ensure with the collaboration of HR that the H&S claims are effectively managed
Contribute in managing emerging crisis in collaboration with Country Crisis Coordinator

Communication and engagement

Cooperates across functions and with business partners to raise awareness and drive performance, engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility.

Operational Support

Drives behavioral change to continuously improve performance through coordinated Country-wide programs and initiatives.
Supports the sharing of best practices and applies Group standardized processes to deliver consistent support within ABB Canada.
Ensures capability is built through training.

Your background

Desired Profile :
Diploma : Engineering or Business degree, degree in Health & Safety is a big Asset.

Experience :
10 to 15 years’ experience in HSE related function
Experience in Manufacturing and Construction industries.
Deep knowledge of HSE legal requirements
Talent management
Proven experience if implementing and managing HSE Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001)
