Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Global Marketing, the Digital Publisher will be accountable for supporting operational publishing requests, small projects, and content request updates across multiple Sun Life Websites ensuring content is consistent with site standards and style guides.
The publisher will use their experience to publish and optimize content to effectively drive quality and accuracy. This role requires a strong attention to detail and manages high volumes requiring the ability to prioritize a fluctuating workload. The Digital Publisher should be familiar with all web publishing governance, including knowledge of UX, Accessibility, SEO and how it applies to content on a website.
What will you do?
- Delivers effective web solutions for day to day operational work and content projects
- Editing existing web content, reviewing accuracy of pages, and publishing of new content
- Prioritization of content submissions, setting customer expectations and ensuring that content publication is of high quality and delivered within established SLAs
- Understanding and apply digital best practices around SEO, UX, analytics & accessibility
- Identifies opportunities to improve web experience if applicable
- Create and maintain site and technical documentation
- Ensure website issues are recorded for monitoring and escalated in a timely manner
- Client management with business partners and other publishing teams to build strong relationships
- At times, business needs arise, and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal workday or workweek to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job
What do you need to succeed?
- Solid understanding of website publishing (HTML) and best practices, including web Accessibility (WCAG 2.0)
- Experience with Content Management Systems, in particular Adobe Experience Manager (AEM Sites)
- Demonstrated experience managing website content updates and publishing workflows
- Good understanding of web design, Analytics, Usability, SEO and CSS
- Strong editing and proofreading skills, to ensure published content is accurate and of very high quality
- Takes initiative and effectively prioritizes conflicting workloads to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organization, planning and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment, in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to facilitate and build effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgement
- Initiative-taker and innovator; looks for new, sometimes unconventional approaches to the way things are done
- Problem solving skills and knowledge of troubleshooting methodology
Education and Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in web publishing is required
- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing Web Content Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2.0 AA) and the practical application of these standards to overall Web content publishing and Web site management
- Understanding of digital technology & channels and best practices
- Experience working with stakeholders and consulting on digital solutions to meet business needs/goals
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall project delivery methods
- Past experience in the financial services/and or website publishing industries is preferred
- Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
