Are you the leader we are looking for ?
Under the direction of the Central Distribution Director, the Distribution Center Director manages daily operations in an incredible 1 million square foot distribution center. He/She will be responsible for Operations Managers’ performance and execution of all Operations functions at the facility, including develop and execute daily and weekly operational plans, meet and exceed customer service requirements, maximize quality, throughput, and productivity of the facility; manage a diverse employee population; nurture a positive employee relations, focused, safe and productive work environment and ensure all corporate policies and procedures are adhered to and short and long term plans are implemented.
Your role:
Develop and execute daily and weekly operational plans that that meet or exceed customer service level expectations while achieving maximum operating efficiency
Coordinate all activities to staff, organize, and direct Distribution Center operations to effectively manage the receipt, storage, loading and shipment of products to stores.
Partner with support staff to ensure effective utilization of Distribution Centre resources
Ensure operations meet and improve upon current company standards of quality and productivity
Develop, analyze, and recommend operational and systemic improvements to meet current and future service, throughput, and cost
Accountable for ensuring operational components of Distribution Center budget are met
Develop and implement short and long-range staffing plans based on productivity objectives and forecasted volume requirements
Daily balancing of labor availability and volume requirements throughout the facility
Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain effective shift management teams
In conjunction with HR and Engineering, develop, implement, and measure effectiveness of new employee training programs
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed, and that equipment and work areas are neat, clean and well organized
Daily inspection of physical condition of distribution center and equipment and directing needed maintenance and/or repair.
The qualifications we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree (administration, logistics, supply chain, management) or other fields related
Minimum 10 years’ progressive management experience within a large volume, distribution center environment
Ability to develop and lead a high performing team (including Operations Managers and Supervisors)
Ability to build rapport and trust with others
Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization
Able to effectively led projects from inspection to implementation
Can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information and changing conditions
Analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problem-solving
Strong computer skills; experience with software applications such as Excel, Access or Lowe’s DMS
10 years’ experience with WMS Software
Effectively prioritizes work and possesses time management skills
Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
