Reports To: Group Claims and Administration Vice President
Department: Group Administration and myFlex
Term: Permanent, Full-Time
Work Arrangements: We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately September 2023), coming into the office 25% on designated days.
The Opportunity: The Director of Administration and Enablement will provide strategic direction and leadership to our Team in delivering superb Advisor, Plan Sponsor and Plan Member experiences. The Director is accountable for key administration functions across our Group Benefit product lines with a scope that includes plan member setup, enrolment, onboarding, medical underwriting and servicing for all Group Benefits clients.
Additionally, the Director will lead the Enablement team accountable to deliver process improvements, end user developed technology solutions, and project management of key initiatives that span Operations and Group Benefits.
What you will be doing:
- Administration
- Providing dynamic leadership to your team accountable for a diverse scope of work
- Collaborate with internal peers and partners on our strategic vision and play a key role in the successful execution of our plans
- Continually assess team performance and client feedback to ensure service and operations expectations are delivered
- Partner with the Individual line of business to utilize third party vendors and the MIB system for medical underwriting and outsourced services
- Use, enhance, and create key metrics (KPIs) to demonstrate strong service performance and expense management
- Apply strong critical thinking, influencing and negotiation skills to resolve issues that impact multiple stakeholders (Advisors, Plan Sponsor, Plan Members)
- Strong presentation skills able to communicate effectively to internal partners, Advisors and Plan Sponsors to support sales and client retention activities; or industry groups to share expertise
- Enablement
- Ability to critically review technology solutions considering costs, benefits, client impact and technical feasibility
- Work with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance our processes and solutions that leverage data, digital tools and evolving client demands to differentiate Equitable in the marketplace while improving operational efficiency
- Provide coaching and mentoring to the project manager and/or subject matter experts (SME’s) assigned to the projects
- For owned projects, track project plans, resources, and progress to ensure disciplined management and provide updates as required to key stakeholders
- Understand change management and the related business impact/readiness requirements to manage the potential impacts proactively
- Effectively communicate and continuously implement best practices, process changes, legislative changes, provincial coverage changes, and other developments of importance
- Provide leadership to the Operations Continuous Improvement program
- Streamline and automate reporting for a variety of purposes (day to day management, performance evaluation, service reporting and trend analysis)

What you will bring:
- Leadership experience ideally within Group Benefits Administration
- Group Insurance experience and strong knowledge and interest in current and emerging administration practices
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills; able to identify ways to elevate the Equitable offering
- Experience in developing and deploying end user tools to solve business problems
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Power Platform applications (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Innovative and forward thinking, with proven ability to implement new technology to increase overall efficiency
- Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to deal with complex and varying business issues
- Understanding of the power of data to drive identification of opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service across the Division
- Experience as a communicator, mentor, and coach leading and growing teams of varying skills and knowledge
- Proven ability to build effective relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to communicate and deal effectively with people at any level, including executive levels
- Project and process management skills: ability to apply technology to improve processes, both internal and customer facing (i.e. web and mobile)
- Marketing and presentation skills to professionally represent our value proposition with respect of service, technology and solution options to address key customer pain points
- Budgeting, planning and business casing skills
