Job description: KEV Group is an enterprise SaaS company providing online payment and accounting software to simplify student activity fund management in schools. KEV’s easy- to-use web-based software automates the collection, disbursement and management of student funds, thereby reducing the time it takes to receive and account for all school activity fees and increasing the time teachers can spend on education. The company is based in Toronto, with offices in the US. KEV is a portfolio company of Serent Capital, a leading middle market private equity firm focused on high growth technology businesses. KEV is seeking a strong, experienced Director of Finance and Administration to join the team.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director, Finance and Administration would directly manage the overall treasury function, corporate financial reporting and taxation activities of KEV by developing short and long-term strategies. The Director, Finance and Administration will actively participate in setting strategic goals for policies, internal cost control measures, budgets, financial statements & reporting, tax planning and the ongoing effectiveness of accounting and cash management procedures and work with the FP&A department. The Director of Finance and Administration will lead all Canadian and International, finance & accounting functions working closely alongside the CFO, and acting as a key member of the senior leadership team in making strategic decisions
Responsibilities:
· Effectively manage, lead and develop the finance team and the financial operations
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with all key stakeholders including investors, executives, peers, vendors and the Board by maintaining credibility and being proactive
· Establish and implement both long and short-term goals and objectives for the Finance Department and the business overall
· Develop, implement and update company policies and procedures
· Manage treasury functions including debt and foreign currency
· Own the financial processing and daily reconciliation of KEV’s on-line payments business which is upwards of $500 million annually
· Functions across a wide range of responsibilities from high level analysis and working on business issues with the leadership team
· Management of the maintenance renewal process and all billings and reporting
· Corporate taxes – locally and internationally – including tax planning, transfer pricing, government incentives
· Key person with regards to complex accounting issues including software revenue recognition
· Monthly commission modeling, calculation, plan set up and employee communication
· Ownership of annual financial statement audit including preparation of the financial statements and note disclosures
· Reviews and monitors cash activity to insure that cash requirements are managed and forecasted
· Monthly Board reporting, analysis and internal departmental analysis including communication with the executive team
· Involved with Budgeting and reforecasting including developing and improving models
· Involved in M&A and partnering activities
· Responsible for management of Office Administration
· Other special projects as they are identified
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required.
· CPA designation required
· 10 years of finance & accounting experience required; preferably with a technology software company and a minimum of 3 years management experience
· High proficiency with MS Excel required
· Experience using Netsuite is preferred
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with internal and external issues in an effective and timely manner
· Experience working with multi-currency entities
· The ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast paced environment
· Readily and frequently collaborates with others
· Conceiving, analyzing and reflecting on information or data; and thinks about future impact, possibilities, and presents new ideas or outcomes.
· Having an understanding of the general business who, what, why and how’s to ensure that decisions are based on actual or potential capability.
Develops the criteria, boundaries, time limits etc. necessary to move toward and achieve a specific outcome for the group or organization
