Job description: To oversee the operations of all clinical staff, ensuring appropriate standard of care for all residents is met and coordinating education needs of all staff. This is our Director of Quality. Interested?
At a high level, our Director of Quality will be involved in the following functions:
Service Delivery
- Develop, implement, update, and evaluate the home’s resident care programs and policies, including staff education requirements
- Lead and contribute to a strategy for curriculum to advance the development of nursing skills and development, and the Home’s quality improvement activities with a focus on meeting compliance with legislation and Accreditation Standards
- Coordination of education and implementation plans for the nursing and support programs
- Lead and oversee the Quality Program and Protocol for the home and compliance with the applicable regulations
- Work with the leadership team to develop, implement, audit and evaluate Action Plans and care delivery processes
- Ensures Health and Safety legislation is met
Continuous Quality Improvement
- Actively participates in program development and in the development of key performance indicators
- Actively participates in risk management and continuous quality improvement processes and activities
- Works to continuously monitor, assess and improve the education program for the nursing department
A Director of Quality should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- A university degree in Education, Business or a Clinical field required
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in the healthcare sector, preferably in a long-term care environment, with such experience also having a clinical element
- Knowledge and understanding of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations
- Understanding of business acumen in a unionized, long term care and/or retirement environment
- Demonstrated experience in adult education, with a solid understanding of adult education principles
- Demonstrated experience in engaging and facilitating work with diverse groups of stakeholders including residents, families, front line staff and physicians
- Experience in leading the education, coaching, mentoring and facilitating of teams and individuals
