Job title: Distribution Supervisor

Job description: Job Summary and Scope:

Supervise all picking activities while respecting set budgets and keeping interruptions in customer service to a minimum. To manage warehouse employees while maintaining a good working environment and promoting occupational health and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to all warehouse employees.
  • Promote a positive teamwork environment between departments and employees. Delegate and distribute assignments and decisions appropriately.
  • Promote a culture of safety at every opportunity with employees. Ensure safety procedures are being followed strictly and that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise the daily workflow in the areas of order picking and truck loading.
  • Identify process improvements, increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective internal and external customer service.
  • Ensure standard productivity and error standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure that employees receive applicable training and skills development.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training.
  • Assess manpower requirements necessary to maintain established service levels.

Qualifications; Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ supervisory experience in an operations/distribution environment.
  • A College Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience within distribution, logistics and transportation.
  • Experience leading employees in a unionized work environment.
  • Experience in training, motivating, coaching employees.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and have excellent time management skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and customer relations skills.
  • Computer literate with Windows based software programs and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
