Position Overview
An exciting and challenging opportunity exists for a Temporary, Full-Time Environmental Technician with the City of Kamloops until approximately April 30, 2022. This position involves providing assistance with the coordination of environmental regulatory reporting requirements, report preparation, and sample collection as well as ensuring day to day regulatory compliance at landfill and composting facilities. This position involves inside and outside work with regular site visits to landfill, yard waste, and compost facilities to engage with customers, contractors, and consultants.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: * Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree such as environmental science, natural resource science, or courses with a focus on environmental management or other related discipline(s).
  • Minimum of six months’ previous professional experience related to the collection, maintenance, and manipulation of environmental data.
  • Proficient in intermediate Word, intermediate Excel, and basic PowerPoint, as demonstrated through testing. A 70% pass rate is required.
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5.

More than one may be hired.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time.

$31.05

Hours & Days of Work
April 1 through September 30:
Tuesday – Saturday:
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

October 1 through March 31:
Monday – Friday:
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. OR
Year Round Monday – Friday:
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Shift to be determined by Supervisor
