Job title: EXPORT MARKETING OFFICER
Job description: OMAFRA’s Business Development Branch is seeking an individual to expand current programs and develop new export options for Ontario-produced food, beverage and agriculture products and, to assist in providing marketing intelligence for the branch.

If yes, OMAFRA has a great opportunity for you to use your business process and sales expertise in the role of Export Marketing Officer.
This position is in the Trade and Investment Unit where you would join a team of export marketing and investment (FDI) officers/consultants.
Note: You may have the option to work from one of the following locations:
– Guelph
– Toronto
What can I expect to do in this role? Reporting to the Manager, Trade and Investment, you will:
- Create, manage and promote programs and activities to maintain and expand markets and exports by developing, planning and implementing approved export marketing programs
- Identify potential export clients and suitable markets of Ontario food, beverage and agriculture products
- Assess buyers’ needs and link them to export-ready Ontario-based food, beverage and agriculture companies and producers
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
How do I qualify?
Mandatory requirements: • You are able to travel to locations not accessible via public transportation.
- You are able to travel frequently and work outside regular business hours.
Specialized Knowledge • You have knowledge of the principles and practices of international trade including finance, logistics and marketing.
- You have knowledge of international trade and commerce practices to assess needs of foreign buyers.
- You have knowledge of Ontario’s food, beverage and agricultural business, including capability and export potential, in order to develop, plan and implement export marketing programs.
- You can interpret and apply legislation, regulations and policies (e.g. U.S. labelling, U.S. Bioterrorism Act) to identify potential export clients and suitable markets for Ontario’s food, beverage and agriculture products.
Project Management, Analytical and Research Skills • You have demonstrated project management, analytical and research skills.
Communication and Computer Skills • You have effective oral and written communication skills to develop and maintain client relationships and prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, etc.
- You can demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
- You have experience using standard computer software programs including word processing and presentation programs along with database programs.
