Job Summary:

The Faculty of Business & Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for a one-year, limited term Academic Associate position teaching programming and math subjects in the Bachelor of Information Technology program. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on September 1, 2021.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Applicants shall possess a Masters in Computer Science, IT Security or a related field, a strong academic background, and strong knowledge in the fundamental aspects of computer science including algorithms, computer architecture, data structures, and programming. Applicants should be proficient in programming in languages such as: python, C#, and C++. Knowledge of developing in the Unity3D game engine is strongly recommended. In addition, relevant industrial experience, university level teaching experience, and experience in online and hybrid delivery is an asset.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s). The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year.

The Faculty offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce as and in Information Technology, with specializations in Networking and Security, Game Development and Interactive Media, and Technology Management. We offer the Master of IT Security (MITS) degree with an Artificial Intelligence focus.
