Job Summary:
The Faculty is seeking an Academic Planning Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Planning and Operations and working closely with the Associate Dean and Academic Advising team, the incumbent will provide support in academic planning.
Nature of work:
The position is responsible for the efficient delivery of a comprehensive set of academic and support services for the faculty.
Responsibilities/accountabilities:
- Prepare, plan, schedule course information for scheduling purposes and assist with student registration in the faculty.
- Analyze section and registration data to provide an optimal student and faculty course timetable.
- Working with the Director of Planning and Operations, coordinate teaching load for Faculty Members.
- Respond to queries from Central Scheduling and other Faculties as required.
- Coordinate and provide guidance to faculty members with curriculum changes.
- Coordinate new programs under development to ensure consistency with FBIT curriculum and that Quality Assurance standard is met, as set by CIQE department.
- Coordinate all faculty program reviews when necessary.
- Implement academic student retention strategies by coordinating with the FBIT academic advising team.
- Participate in various faculty academic committees as required.
- Maintain and update faculty/university Academic recruitment material.
- Prepare, develop and maintain various faculty internal academic policies.
- Maintain/revise academic information (i.e. academic calendar; program maps, course descriptions).
- Coordinate/develop various recruitment activities within the faculty.
- Develop and present seminars and informational sessions for students and faculty/staff.
- Produce statistical data and reports as required.
Required Skills
- Well developed written and oral communication skills, and strong presentation, organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and possess some experience in database maintenance and report writing.
- Working knowledge of web applications and previous experience with Banner and Curriculog/Acalog would be considered an asset.
- Proven team player dedicated to excellent customer service with public relations skills.
- Ability to manage many tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, good judgment, initiative, tact, and discretion.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours to meet deadlines and to attend evening or weekend events and activities.
Education
- Completion of a University Program consisting of Four Academic Years or Equivalent
- Verification of Academic credentials may be required Required Experience
- A minimum of three years of related successful experience in a university environment.
- Experience with data analysis and policy interpretation, implementation, and development.
- Previous experience within an academic advising role is an asset.
