Position Purpose
Provides sound administrative and financial management support to business units operating under the Centre of Executive Leadership (CEL) umbrella. Supports the ongoing operations of the Telfer’s executive programs by fostering a commitment to collaboration, initiative and customer service in all aspects of the CEL’s financial, administrative, HR, IT and facilities management needs.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in commerce (or equivalent) and preferably a CPA designation
Minimum of five years’ experience in a management role in finance, procurement and administration
Knowledge of financial management principles, policies, procedures and practices, including those related to financial planning, budgeting, cost accounting and responsibility centre management
Knowledge of GAAP and its application to financial statements
Knowledge of commodity taxes, including GST, HST and provincial sales taxes considered an asset
Knowledge of employment standards, human rights legislation, health and workplace safety requirements and best practices in human resource management
Knowledge of best practices in procurement and contract negotiation
Experience in a university setting and knowledge of a faculty’s structure and regulatory framework considered an asset
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize a varied and heavy workload to meet deadlines
Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner
Ability to provide advice on and recommendations for improvements to practices and procedures related to financial management
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities, while leading and mentoring staff
Effective oral and written communicate skills
Ability to anticipate management’s financial analysis needs
Initiative, self-motivation and a client service orientation
Critical thinking skills
Supervisory and team leadership skills
Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
