Our client in Kitchener Waterloo is looking for a Finance Assistant to join their team for a 2-3 month contract position!

Excellent hourly rate at $35.70/hour for this contract role!

Duties:

  • Posts financial data from corporate systems into the financial system (Oracle).
  • Reconciles data against summary reports, and investigates and resolves discrepancies.
  • Compiles monthly payroll accrual information and submits to supervisor for review as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of operating/capital budgets for client program areas, including budget analyses, documents, summaries, and projections.
  • Reconciles corporate asset accounts monthly.
  • Reviews control accounts (assets and liabilities), follows up on incorrect codes, and resolves system and accounting issues.
  • Generates reports required to monitor actual expenditures/revenues against approved budgets.
  • Assists in the coordination of activities related to the year end audit.
  • Prepares year end reports for external auditors/supervisor
  • Reviews, accrues, and reconciles financial information to assist in the preparation of yearly financial statements

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial, and management accounting practices/principles; financial/ systems analysis; and business/economic/mathematic principles, normally acquired through a related 4-year Bachelor’s Degree
  • Current enrolment or completion of CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), plus 3 years of related experience are preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, tax regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Communication skills to interact with/collect financial information from Finance staff and clients
  • Analytical, organized, attention to detail, and problem solving skills to organize workload, meet priorities, and respond to ad hoc requests
  • Computer skills; able to use Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, financial systems, and corporate systems and databases
